Designed with a medium brim that snaps up Aussie style, the Tilley Endurables LTM6 Airflo Hat features a 3/4-inch polyester mesh in the crown for coolness and comfort during hot days and strenuous activities. It's made from 100 percent supplex Tilley Nylamtium, a form of lightweight nylon that's both lightweight and resistant to water and mildew. The fabric has also been certified to block 98 percent of harmful UVA/UVB radiation and deliver an ultraviolet factor (UPF) of 50+--the maximum rating given. Other features include a dark underbrim for glare protection and floatability. It also ties on in windy conditions.

Each Tilley hat is hand-sewn and all seams are lock-stitched so they won't unravel. It also comes with a secret pocket in the crown to safely and securely store items such as a driver's license, room key, or a $20 bill. Machine wash on delicate cycle separately or hand wash in cool water. Do not use bleach. Guaranteed for life not to wear out.

I bought the LTM6 Tilley AIRFLO hat for my husband on his birthday. It is a great looking hat- makes him look like a real mountain man. When we went to go visit his extended family, everybody tried it on and I genuinely thought that it looked good on everyone. All the relatives want Tilleys now! I can't blame them.

We measured my husband's head according to the instructions on the Tilley website and the hat fits him perfectly. Even walking around in the windy Badlands the hat stayed put. Despite the AIRFLO vents, the hat kept his head (and mine too- I like to borrow it!) very dry during a weekend of rainy camping. The Tilley is absolutely everything a hat should be plus some. We love the Tilley!!!

Tilley Winter Hat Review

High fashion and high performance on headgear, and a serious cover up for the fall and winter.

The Tilley Winter Hat has a wool exterior which is teflon coated to help shed the rain. It has a size adjustment device to allow you to make minor adjustments to the fit. As with most types of Tilley hats it comes in a wide range of sizes, has a secret pocket in the top as well as a small piece of closed foam insulation. The insulation also helps the hat to float if it comes off in the canoe and goes for a swim.

What makes the winter hat really different though is that there is ear and forehead warmers tucked up into the hat. So when your ears get cold you can fold these down and it will keep your ears warm and your forehead. Sounds good in theory but I had my doubts. So much so that I have swithered about getting one of these hats for over a year, a couple of years in fact.






Conclusion

Well the hat does everything it sets out to do. I am very pleased with it and only wish I had swithered less and bought it sooner. Are there areas that could be improved? Yes. The hat is meant to be dry cleaned. This is something I am unlikely to get round to so we will find out how it gets on with a machine wash at some time. The strength of the original Tilleys was that you could wash them in the sink at night and they would be dry and ready for action in the morning. The other thing is this hat has no chin strap so it can blow off in windy conditions but in saying this I have never really used the chin strap on my T5 Tilley . However, these two minor points aside the hat is superb. I am really happy with it. Between this and my T5 I am good to go for all weather conditions.
